About B.L.Stevens

Welcome to the world of B.L.Stevens, an aspiring renaissance man. By that, I mean aspiring to develop my competence as an abstract artist, classic car revivalist, music buff, swimming enthusiast, cinephile, and humorist. Besides my interests, I am a card-carrying pescatarian, tinkerer, dog lover,  and creative idea person. 

This is a space for me to share my passions and creations. I invite you to join me on my current journey to become a published author, writing across multiple genres.

As a young boy, I was fascinated by cars and could name just about any vehicle on the road while peering out the windows of my father's Oldsmobile 88. 

I dabbled in chemistry, pouring my sister's chemistry set into the gas tank of my father's lawn mower.

I explored carpentry, removing the hinges off the garage entry door as an elementary school student. That went well until someone actually tried to use it.

You get the picture. And even though my pursuits weren't always successful, my curiosity never waned.

My mother always made me watch every repairman apply their trade, prefaced by saying, "Pay close attention; I don't want to call them back!" So, if you have a leaky faucet or a faulty light switch, I'm your guy.

As an adult, my interests matured. I learned to work on cars and enjoyed resurrecting neglected classics. I explored modern art by utilizing free-form styles of painting and dabbled in guitar.     

I once wrote a whole screenplay on a plane trip on my way back from a work conference which made me realize how much fun writing was.

But the literary life-changer event for me was the introduction of our daughter into our lives.

She loved stories and inspired me to write. But more about that in the 'My Writing Journey' section.  We currently live in North Carolina, but I originally hail from New York. We are dog people; not to throw any shade on cats or other pets, but hey, we are what we are.
